About Me:
My Name is Michael Adam Palma and I am currently a full-time faculty member at the University of North Texas in the Jazz Studies Department where I teach 3 classes on jazz improvisation, a piano techniques class, and teach private jazz piano lessons. I was born on December 15th, 1985 in Irving, Tx. I came from a musical family and began piano lessons at the age of five. Between now and the time I was twelve years old, I have taken on an extraordinary career as a jazz performer. I have performed with Wynton Marsalis, Greg Osby, Mark Turner, Jimmy Cobb, Tootie Heath, George Garzone, Roy Hargrove, Jason Palmer, Jiggs Whigam, Paquito D' Rivera, Ralph Peterson and Hal Crook to name a few. I have performed all over the states as well as in Japan, Spain, and France. I attended Booker T. Washington HSPVA here in Dallas where I received numerous Downbeat magazine jazz education awards for my improvisation skills and compositions. I received a full scholarship from the Berklee College of Music from where he graduated in 2009. Aside from performing jazz, my composing skills have been internationally recognized and my work has been heard on the television programs Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Expose, and America’s Best Dance Crew as well as television stations ABC, NFL Network, MTV, and Superstation.
I lived in Brooklyn, NY from 2010-2011 where he performed at some of the top venues in the city including The Blue Note and Kitano. I now reside in Denton, TX where I perform with several acts in the jazz and pop idiom and also work as a composer for film and advertising at IdeaMan Studios in Dallas.
