- About Me:
- Brooklyn-based pianist/keyboardist/composer/producer Jesse Fischer is an important new voice in jazz and soul music. Appearing with Stevie Wonder on the eve of President Obama’s inauguration, he has also toured the world with artists as diverse as Freddie Jackson, Laura Izibor, Celia Faussart (from Les Nubians), N’Dambi, and Black Moon. Fischer’s group Soul Cycle has crafted a fresh new hybrid sound, with eclectic influences ranging from 70’s-era fusion jazz, Memphis soul, electronica, and psychedelic rock. Featuring guest appearances from Gretchen Parlato, Stefon Harris, and Sean Jones, Fischer and Soul Cycle’s latest release Homebrew has received critical praise and worldwide support; Creative Loafing Atlanta writes, “Rarely does a contemporary jazz album attempt to impress fans of straight-ahead without forsaking its dance-floor groove and old soul references”, while Onaje Allan Gumbs calls the collective, “talented and eclectic musicians who know how to think outside of the box.”
