- About Me:
- I received my undergraduate degree in Music Education. I always was good about practice, but I really practiced during this time. I knew that If I wanted to teach music, that I would have to be an outstanding performer. Around the time I graduated college, a band came through town and most of the musicians were in the UNT 1 O’ Clock Jazz Band-literally the best big band jazz ensemble in the world. I ended up subbing in the band, then became a permanent member. Everyone seemed confident that I could make the One O’ Clock too. I eventually moved to Denton and made the One O’ Clock. I was also soon directing the Three O’ Clock Band (3rd of nine jazz ensembles), and teaching saxophone, at UNT.
After finishing at UNT (Masters Degree), I taught at Brookhaven College where I taught flute, clarinet, saxophone, jazz improvisation, and the big band jazz ensemble. At this time I played for many famous people (Bob Hope, Lou Rawls, and Steve Allen). I did most of Eddie Coker's music arrangements and played all of the woodwind parts on all of his recordings. Also a member of the Kris Berg's Metroplexity Big Band and the Rebel Alliance Big Band. I'm also a new member on the Collin Jazz camp faculty.
