Jazz Around Town: Eddie V's (Dallas)
With Jazz Around Town, UJD will be checking out various places in DFW doing jazz, among other things. They'll be rated on the Jazz Scale:
(1) Poor, (2) Decent Set, (3) Liked It, (4) Jazzed Up, (5) JazzMaster Set!
Eddie V's (Dallas) - Rating (3) Like It
Eddie V's Dallas is somewhat new to the Dallas entertainment landscape. The venue's main thing is seafood. Not jazz. That said, they do a solid to the jazz community by incorporating it into their entertainment programming. If this was about decor and ambiance, Eddie V's would be 4 out of 5 stars with UJD. But, this is about jazz. They are ranked "Like It" status because when they have jazz, the players are good. You just have to search their calendar to find out when jazz is scheduled.
Jazz is presented in a beautiful bar lounge area near the front entrance adjacent to their beautiful and spacious main dining room. Performers are situated in the corner of the room and though small and somewhat snug for the performers, it's working. At least for trio's and quartets. Anything above that will require some adjustments with furniture.
Located at 4023 Oak Lawn Ave, Suite 110, in Dallas. It's right on the edge of Highland Park and down the street from the popular Pappadeaux dining dig. It's a beautiful setting. If they increased the jazz profile, it would easily go the next level of #4 - Jazzed Up. But, for now #3 "Like It". We're sure you'd like it as well. Call ahead to see when jazz is in the house.
