With Jazz Around Town, UJD will be checking out various places in DFW doing jazz, among other things. They'll be rated on the Jazz Scale:

Times Ten Cellars - Rating #3 - Liked It

Jazz Around Town made it's stop in the historic neighborhood of Lakewood where Times Ten Cellars - Dallas operates one of two operations where the grape is crafted from wine to bottle. It's a great place to hang and have drinks with friends and family.

But, this is about jazz! And, it must be said that Times Ten does jazz well. It's not their main thing but they have carved out a decent niche for the customers to come in and hear on Sundays from 4 pm - 7pm. And, it appears that they may even expand to other evenings.

Their operation in Lakewood is located at 6324 Prospect Avenue, Dallas, TX 75214, just off Abrams. The evening we stopped in it was full of people (probably from the neighborhood). Booking special events in private rooms seems to be the thing there. But, the jazz was front and center on Sunday. There's not an 'installed' sound/lighting system, so the musicians appear to be bringing in their own setup. The acoustics are pretty good in the main room where jazz was presented. An acoustic jazz set would have no problems being heard. But, vocals.... that's another thing.

So, the deal is that Times Ten Cellars in Lakewood is another great hang-out which presents jazz as a 'sidekick' experience to their wine operation. And, because of the jazz and wine 'pairing', it works for them and their customers. We have to stamp this with a #3 Like It status. It wouldn't take much to go to the next level(s). Go through and check them out. Call ahead to see if jazz is scheduled.
