Event Description

On June 22 it’s the First Oak Cliff Jazz Fest & Arts and Crafts Fair!  The Labyrinth Walk Coffee House proudly presents 10 exceptional musicians on the 5 acre campus of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff, 3839 W. Kiest Blvd., Dallas. http://www.oakcliffjazzfest.org/

The music starts at noon with Shoot Low Sheriff and their unique sound which blends urban and rural, sophisticated and rustic to classics and original pieces. Closing out the day, beginning at 9 pm, will be The Inner City All Stars – APCA’s “Best Band” of the year and one of the most sought after jazz groups in the metroplex.

In between, guests will be entertained by smooth and expressive vocalist Carolyn Lee Jones; the entertaining Miss Marcy and Her Texas Sugar Daddy’s; the understated, classy Jennifer Martin; the passionate vocals of Larry Lampkin; critically acclaimed saxophonist Shelley Carrol; the natural sound of the Funky Knuckles; famed Mississippi jazz artist Alphonso Sanders; and the incomparable trumpet of Freddie Jones. 

Gates open at 11 am and guest can browse the arts & crafts booths until 6 pm.  A featured artist Sam Fuller (“Old Black Man Art”) is the grand prize winner of Celebrate Community Arts contest sponsored by Frito Lay for his colored pencil drawing entitled “Slow Dancing.”  On display at the Omni, Dallas is a commissioned piece by Mr. Fuller.  Another artist is Frank Frazier whose “. . . Art has adorned art galleries in a multitude of cities across the United States and abroad. His legacy as an Artist, a mentor and an activist is secure in American history, “ Gregory Boyce,  the Examiner

The fair includes a wide variety of art and handmade crafts including ceramics, bat houses, honey, soap, candles, yard art, accessories, and more..  There will be a voter’s registration area and nonprofit service organizations will be on hand with information on their activities. A food court will be located on the campus.

For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, please visit http://www.oakcliffjazzfest.org/.  Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children12 to 18. Advance tickets are available until June 20.  At the gate, tickets for adults are $20 and $15 for children 12 to 18. Guests will be able to come and go. Parking is free. Please bring chairs or blankets. No large coolers please
