Event Description

Vocalist Alex Blair is quickly becoming one of DFW's most in-demand vocalists. Her musicianship stems from a deep-rooted love of pre-80's soul and a diverse background in jazz and musical theater. Ms.Blair's sultry, velvet sound and unmatched on-stage presence make for a dynamic performance every time she steps on stage. Ms.Blair fronts the soul/pop band BLAYR, bringing a fresh take on old school soul. She graduated in 2014 from the world renown jazz program at the University of North Texas. She also has received numerous awards including a coveted jazz scholarship from the University of North Texas and outstanding performer at the Berklee College of Music Jazz Festival. Ms.Blair has an extensive history in musical theater, studying both vocal technique and acting with nationally recognized teacher and author Rhonda Carlson.

Ms.Blair is also a recording artist.and works as an on-call studio vocalist. Alex was recently recognized for her vocals on Downbeat Award winner Kyle Gordon's composition of "My Own and Only Love" (2016). Her vocals are featured on the UNT Jazz Singers Downbeat Award nominated album "I Can't Help It" (2015). BLAYR's debut album "Taste"was released November 2017 and is available on all major music carriers. Her debut jazz album is scheduled for summer 2018 release.
