The Chris McGuire Quintet presents the music of Charlie Parker
Chris McGuire is a multi-instrumentalist whose career began in Dallas after his graduation from the esteemed UNT College of Music, where his list of achievements includes membership in the world-renowned One O’Clock Lab Band. Additionally, he has performed with many pop, jazz, and R&B artists, including Natalie Cole, Diana Ross, Lou Rawls, Michael Bolton, Elvis Costello, Manhattan Transfer, and Terry Bradshaw. The quintet will also feature Rodney Booth (trumpet), Stefan Karlsson (piano), and Andrew Griffith (drums).

Charlie Parker was a highly influential jazz soloist and a leading figure in the development of bebop, a form of jazz characterized by fast tempos, virtuosic technique, and improvisation. Parker introduced revolutionary harmonic ideas, including rapid passing chords, new variants of altered chords, and chord substitutions. His tone ranged from clean and penetrating to sweet and somber.
