“As a photographer my goal is not to capture some view of an objective reality, my goal is to create a picture that captures the way I see life as it presents itself to me. In the mundane is where the sacred often hides, sacred stories of loss, hope, dreams, love and death. I see stories in the rusted abandoned car, in face of the woman on break, in the weathered building with chipped peeling paint. My hope is that when you look at the photographs I present you will see a part of your own story as well.” – Chuck Shanlever
