About Me:
Tonye Scott sings & performs with spirit, heart, soul and passion. She serves as Manager of Operations for the NABFEME Dallas office. Born in San Francisco, raised in Berkeley with roots in New Orleans… Tonye made her first stage appearance at seven, coached and accompanied on the piano by her inspiration… her mother! In Junior High she formed a female vocal group called “The Chimes” … later she began performing solo, touring the local circuit and upon High School graduation, she received a scholarship and was given the opportunity to be one of the first to participate in the “Young Musicians” Program at the University of California at Berkeley.
Tonye was a featured artist at the “Festival at the Lake” in Oakland, CA. She and her Quintet performed to SRO audiences at the “AT&T San Jose Jazz Festival” and the “San Jose Jazz Society Winter Jazz Series.” Now living in Dallas, TX … Tonye has performed for the “St. Paul Gospel Jazz Series,” was offered a major role in a women’s biblical play, where one of her original songs was featured; she also performed for the “Sammons Center for the Arts Jazz Series” in a tribute to Shirley Horn and was a featured artist at “The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL).” Sherman, TX found Tonye featured in a major role in the stage play “My Love Is Under New Management” where she sang one of her original songs written specifically for the play. Internationally, Tonye has performed in Chapas, Mexico for the “Jazz las Casas Annual Jazz Festival” and most recently she performed in Oakland, CA at the popular 57th Street Gallery. Tonye is currently the Operations Manager for National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment (NABFEME) Texas Network. Tonye has been blessed with the opportunity to perform with many great musicians and big bands. It does not matter if the audience is one or one thousand…Tonye Scott gives her all!! When Tonye Scott performs, you don’t just SEE & HEAR her…you FEEL her!!
