Escondido in Dallas is Closed

Well, damnit. This is sad news: Escondido, the tiny, family-run Tex-Mex joint on Butler Street closed last Friday. Damn it. I knew they were struggling. Last December I spoke with owner Juan Herrera and he said they’d already closed their dinner service because business turned bad after The Salvation Army Carr P. Collins Social Service Center opened across from [...]

It’s been awhile since we’ve talked about chicken fried steak. Today comes word from a gal who has friends coming in from New York and they want to eat CFS all weekend. Nice. Hey, Nancy. I know you get a lot of requests and this is late but please consider asking your audience for help. [...]

Nancy Nichols Shows Up in a Piggy Suit on D: The Broadcast

People ask me what Nancy looks like all the time. Usually I make sh*t up and hem and haw my way past that question until we start talking about the weather. Well, the truth is Nancy has pink skin, hooves for hands, and big cartoonish eyes. She’s got a tail that wags when she’s happy [...]

According to Lisa Endicott, the PR woman for Stephan Pyles’ restaurant empire, the high-rise was recently purchased by a new owner, Cousins Property Inc., and this owner wants to completely [...]

Here’s where you can catch your favorite omega-3 source sources in Dallas this year. 1. Whiskey Cake From the marketing coordinator’s mouth: “This year, Whiskey Cake is going straight to the source [...]
