About Me:
With a strong love for underground hip-hop and passion for traditional jazz, this Mississippi born trumpeter is trying to make his mark in DFW. With the DFW area being a popular home for smooth jazz, traditional jazz, neo-soul, and hip-hop has allowed Alcedrick to explore and further continue his musical growth. The Hattiesburg,Mississippi native started playing trumpet while attending Comuex High School in Lafayette,Louisiana at the age of 14. It wasn’t until becoming a senior that Todd expressed a desire to study music. After graduating high school he began doing shows with The Larry Anderson Combo out of Monroe,Louisiana. Todd attended the University of Louisiana Lafayette as a Jazz Studies major. Within two year’s of study the trumpeter was asked to audition for the jazz chair of The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. Brother Alcedrick was the first African-American to become a member. Alcedrick Todd has performed with artists such as Jazzhead, Chubby Carrier and The Bayou Swamp Band, Bo Didly, Tito Jackson,The Equinox Jazz Orchesrta, Walter “Wolfman” Washinton, Irma Thomas, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, Garth Alper, Quamon Fowller, Adonis Rose, Stanton Moore,The Midnite Disturbers, The Army Blues Jazz Ensemble, Ike Turner, Carl Fontana, Curtis Fuller, The Neville Brothers, Charmaine Neville, Marc Broussard, Delfeyo Marsalis, Dr. John, The Louisiana Tech University Band of Pride, The UTA Jazz Orchestra, The Solomon Douglas Swingtet, and The Fort Worth Jazz Orchesrta. Alcedrick Todd is a current member of Fort Worth’s own The Krewe of Swing and Krewe of Funk.

Nancy Nichols Shows Up in a Piggy Suit on D: The Broadcast

People ask me what Nancy looks like all the time. Usually I make sh*t up and hem and haw my way past that question until we start talking about the weather. Well, the truth is Nancy has pink skin, hooves for hands, and big cartoonish eyes. She’s got a tail that wags when she’s happy [...]

KERA Interviews Daniel Vaughn for “A Guide to ‘Cue, With The King”

Think‘s Krys Boyd talked brisket and best barbecue in Texas with the BBQ Snob yesterday. Here’s the whole segment online. Does anyone else agree that Daniel Vaughn’s voice is soothing? Next time I’ll ask him to read a bedtime story for SideDish. I’m getting sleepy just thinking about it.
