1st Tuesday Social Justice Films presents “Born to Be Wild” and “Protecting the Amazon Rainforest” on May 5 at 7 pm. The film is hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff, 3839 W. Kiest Blvd., Dallas.
“Born to be Wild” takes viewers in the rainforests of Borneo with primatologist Dr. Birute Galdikas and elephant authority Dame Daphne Sheldrick leading teams to rescue, rehabilitate and return orphaned orangutans and elephants back to the wild. A heartwarming adventure, it is an inspired story of love, dedication and the remarkable bond between people and animals. (40 minutes)
The documentary “Protecting The Amazon Rainforest” looks at the Kayapó of Brazil in their attempts to protect this important habitat. There are around 7,000 of these people left in Brazil. (30 minutes)
